Terraced House

Opened in June 2014 is the latest acquisition of the Ashdown Care Group. Denmark Street is home to 5 service users, 4 male and 1 female with ages ranging from 48 – 76 years of age.

The home caters for ambulant individuals, who do not receive any therapeutic interventions and is unable to offer nursing care. Service users are supported to live an independent life as possible with staff support around general life skills, participation in menu planning, shopping , meal preparation, cooking and washing and ironing.  Service users are involved in monthly keyworking sessions which enables staff to help put together weekly menus and activity planning.

Denmark Street is a 5 bedroomed three storey terraced house in a quiet street roughly 400m from the centre of Gateshead. There are great transport links and many local facilities including doctor’s surgeries, dental practices, shops, churches and pubs in close proximity of Denmark St.

Testimonials
  • “My daughter Gillian lives at Eastbourne, and after living in different places this is the only one she has settled in and is really happy, which I think is down to the fantastic job the staff do. Gillian is well cared for and I think she is a little spoiled. Every time I visit, Gillian is always happy and the rest of the lads are happy too, like one big happy family. We are always made welcome by the staff, offering us cups of tea and biscuits and taking the time to sit and talk to us. Eastbourne is a very homely place and we are always invited to all the activities that take place. I couldn't ask for a better place for Gillian to live.”

  • I would say that the management and staff are completely approachable and sympathetic with a positive 'can do' behaviour towards any and all problems that have been encountered in our case

  • “I am really impressed at how many activities are incorporated in RH’s support plan. You have a good balance of social and productive opportunities and there are not many places I visit that have paid such attention to detail.”

  • “The atmosphere of the home is lovely, comfortable, friendly and welcoming, it feels like home. You should be recommended as an example of what care is.”

  • "It was found that staff were extremely skilled, knowledgeable and effective. The registered manager was an extremely visible leader who demonstrably created a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment in which people had clearly thrived. People’s quality of life was demonstrably improved by the service operated at the home. It was clear that the changes in behaviour were attributable to the care being offered."

  • “Ravenscroft is a beautiful bungalow, staff are friendly and there is always a welcome for everyone. There is plenty of entertainment with trips to the Zoo, the seaside, the park, theatre and pantomimes. I would recommend Ravenscroft to anyone, look around and see all the happy contented faces, and that is all the recommendations you need.”

  • The opinion of Ravenscroft has been well discussed and I wanted you to know that the atmosphere of the home is lovely, comfortable, friendly and welcoming. It is recognised that this is a place of work but that it does not appear so, it feels like home. We have been touched by the genuine bereavement staff felt for the loss of both service users and you should be recommended as an example of what care is.

  • “I am really impressed with how the staff team have managed over the last year. It's made my day to see how well ML is doing and I really don’t think I could have found a better home for her.”
